Pupil Premium
Helping Every Child Flourish
At Sarum St Paul's Church of England Primary School, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to flourish, regardless of their background or circumstances. Guided by our vision of Rooted in Love, Growing Together, we are committed to removing barriers to learning so that every child can achieve their full potential.
Pupil Premium funding enables us to provide additional support, opportunities and experiences for children who may face disadvantage. We carefully plan how this funding is used, drawing on educational research and the individual needs of our pupils, to ensure it makes the greatest possible difference.
Our aim is not simply to close gaps in attainment, but to help every child develop confidence, resilience, a love of learning and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
The funding is allocated for children who meet specific eligibility criteria, including those who receive Targeted Free School Meals, children who are looked after or previously looked after, and children from service families.
Schools have the flexibility to decide how this funding is used to best meet the needs of their pupils. At Sarum St Paul's, every decision is carefully considered to ensure that the funding has the greatest possible impact on children's learning, wellbeing and wider opportunities.
How We Use Pupil Premium
Every child is unique, so there is no single approach that works for everyone. We carefully identify each child's strengths and any barriers they may face before planning support.
Pupil Premium funding may be used to provide:
-
High-quality teaching and targeted support.
-
Additional staffing to meet children's individual needs.
-
Pastoral and wellbeing support.
-
Access to enrichment opportunities where appropriate.
All spending is carefully monitored and evaluated to ensure it makes a positive difference to children's outcomes.
High Expectations for Every Child
At Sarum St Paul's, we believe that disadvantage should never define a child's future.
We have high expectations for every pupil and work closely with families to ensure children feel safe, valued and successful. We know that children achieve their best when they feel confident, supported and ready to learn.
Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
From September 2026, Wiltshire Council is introducing an automatic enrolment process for many families who may be entitled to Targeted Free School Meals. This means that eligible families may be identified automatically and contacted by the local authority, helping to ensure that children receive the support they are entitled to without families needing to complete an application themselves.
If you believe your family may be eligible but have not heard from Wiltshire Council, or if your circumstances have recently changed, please contact the school. We will be happy to offer advice and support in complete confidence.
